La Fortuna’s best family hotels sit on the road between the town center and the volcano — a stretch that puts you within 10–20 minutes of the hanging bridges, the hot springs, and the national park. Hotels in the actual town are cheaper but louder and farther from the volcanic landscape.

Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa

Tabacón sits directly on the geothermal river that feeds its famous hot springs. Guests get free, unlimited access to the Tabacón Hot Springs resort (normally $90+ per adult day pass) — which alone often justifies the room rate. The jungle garden setting with warm cascades, pools, and swim-up bars is breathtaking at any time of day, and extraordinary at night.
The property suits families with children 5 and older best. Little ones can enjoy the warm pools, but the natural river setting — while gorgeous — requires active supervision. Rooms are elegant bungalows scattered through the botanical gardens.
